KINGS OF MACEDON. Perseus, 179-168 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 35 mm, 16.78 g, 12 h), Attic standard. Pella or Amphipolis, Au..., magistrate, circa 173-171. Diademed head of Perseus to right. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ / ΠEΡΣEΩΣ Eagle with spread wings standing right on thunderbolt; above, monogram of AY; to right, Φ; between the eagle's legs, AN; all within oak wreath; in exergue, plow to right. Mamroth, Perseus, 16. A very rare variety. Sharply struck on a broad flan and with a fine portrait. Light doubling, otherwise, good extremely fine.
